It was a disappointing day yesterday with only 1/3 bets hitting from the blog. Luckily my last second Virginia Tech bet hit to go 2-2. I need to be better and will be better. I only have two plays tonight, but one of them is a potential max play. I have also added a 3-leg ML parlay as well to hopefully get the bankroll built for Thursday's slate!
Bet #1:
Iowa State -5
Reasoning:
Like Virginia Tech and Baylor yesterday, this one is a noticeable trap. I enjoy betting these games, because it is so obvious to take the other side, yet this "trap" side seems to win at a very high rate.
#5 Kansas State is traveling to #12 Iowa State tonight. Kansas State is a 5-point underdog despite being 17-2 and ranked 7 spots ahead of the Cyclones. Iowa State still is a very good team, but should it warrant a 5-point spread? Absolutely not, it is so gross. Which is why I will be taking Iowa State -5!
Bet #2:
OKST/TEXAS o135.5
Reasoning:
I don't normally have max plays, but this one has the potential to be a max. I currently have 1.5 units on it and will contemplate adding more if I don't like the NHL or NBA slate tonight.
Texas has two identities. A home Texas team is drastically different than the Longhorns on the road. At home, Texas is scoring 84.7 PPG, and the totals for their home games average 153.2 total points. On the road, the longhorns are scoring just 67 PPG, and the point totals on the road average just 127.4 points. Also, the total of 135.5 has hit 10/14 home games.
Luckily tonight, the Longhorns are at home against Oklahoma State. OKST is average on both sides of the ball, but I could really care less who Texas is playing because I am just following the statistics. Bet responsibly, but this could be a big boy bet!
Moneyline Parlay:
I don't usually parlay favorites in CBB, but I had a profit boost that expires tonight, so here we are.
NCST ML
Davidson ML
Clemson ML
(+175 boosted)
NCST is a fantastic home team this year. They are also playing against a Notre Dame team that is in shambles and just lost to both Boston College and FSU at home. I love the Wolfpack here and wouldn't mind taking them -7.5 either.
This Davidson play is definitely the riskiest one on the parlay. They have lost 4-straight and are traveling to La Salle. However, Davidson's last 4 losses are against the best teams in the conference: Dayton, George Mason, Richmond, and VCU. All games, besides VCU, have been competitive and close. This is a huge bounce back sport for Davidson and I think they pull it out!
Clemson is back in the rankings at #24 and they are home tonight against a below average Georgia Tech Team. Like NCST, Clemson is a great home team, and think they have an easy win tonight. This should be the least sweat of all the legs.
As always, all my plays are posted on Twitter and Pikkit. Good luck everyone, and good Scores! Godspeed!
