Dear Diary,
Today is the final day of November in what has proven to be a marginally better year than last. Many call today November 30th, but for those with a heart (myself), it is more aptly named Giving Tuesday.
On this God-Given day I've decided to take my talents public, and give back to those that have lifted me up over the years - my family, my friends, my colleagues, my audience. I've officially joined the website Worstbets.com, where a few of my dearest friends, and some enemies, blog about sports betting among other topics. I've read blogs that have inspired, blogs that have made me giggle, blogs that have touched my innards, blogs that have expanded my knowledge, blogs that have made me wince in pain, and blogs that have simply made me smile. It's time for the Son of Rich to return the favor and give you all some toilet material.
This past weekend a Thanksgiving miracle occurred in the Mitten: The University of Michigan beat the Ohio Buckeyes. As a young child I grew up a proud Wolverine. Time passed and I evolved (they eventually rejected me. i once loathed rejection, now i crave it.) into a Spartan. I'll save those stories for another day, but one lesson from my father remained constant and was consistently instilled in me from the day I had my circumcision: The number one rule in sports betting is betting Michigan at home as a dog.
Now I rolled my eyes at that man's statement, but what occurred to me this weekend is that even a broken clock is correct twice a day. He nailed it. I bet it. I thank God for my winnings, and return to betting the 4 o'clock games, lose everything I won and more, and continue this pattern until I've lost everything - more on this on a later date.
I realize I'm rambling so let's get down to brass tax - as aforementioned, it's Giving Tuesday, and while I don't have the profits to giveaway to charity, I can give my advice for tonight's slate.
Be careful whose advice you buy but be patient with those who supply it
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past
From the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts
And recycling it for more than it's worth
To the advice: Don't just take the Buckeyes tonight, HAMMER OSU +3, OSU ML +149.
Yes, Duke beat Gonzaga last week. Yes, it was a very impressive win. Yes, it is that weaselly rat Coach K's final year - don't let the book fool you. This is a trap. Ohio State, according to Kenpom, is 65th in 3PFG%, while the Blue Devils are 123rd in defending the deadly dagger they call the 3. Ohio State will not only control this game at the 3 point line, but their experience will enable them to outlast Duke in this ACC/B1G battle - Duke's avg. experience is 1.12 yrs (good for 338th in the nation), Ohio State's is 1.87 (187th). Duke's going to look to push the ball down the court and the Buckeyes will be taking full advantage in Columbus - forcing 14+ turnovers.
Ohio lost not only a game this weekend but their dignity. Duke won last week and completely shocking absolutely nobody, got cockier than the Hub. Take the Buckeyes in this classic Dukie letdown spot, and sprinkle the Moneyline.
