Preview: Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Pebble Beach week is upon us. One of the most iconic courses in the world (minus Augusta). I’m sure we ALL remember in 2000, Tiger’s 7 Iron out of the rough on number 6 from 205 yards out, if not, please see here.

Anyway, back to this week. Not a star-studded line-up, but we are slowly getting to the point in the season where the best in the world start showing up consistently.

That said, we do have some big names including Cantlay, Berger, Spieth, Day, Zalatoris, and Rose (yuck).

The consensus favorite this week is Patrick Cantlay (+650). Last year’s FedEx Cup winner is a California boy and shot a 62 at Pebble last year. While I do love this pick, I don’t see enough value in it. I like Jason Day this week (+1800). He had a great showing last week and is trying to get back into the conversation. Something to look out for this week that I’ve always found interesting, Day visualizes EVERY shot before he makes it. He’ll close his eyes for 2 - 4 seconds. Everyone says visualize your shot, this man actually does it.

I intend to have a long shot or two every week. This week it will be Adam Hadwin (+10,000) and literally last in the field Grayson Murray at (+50,000). I know I know, stupid at 50,000, the tour hates him, he’s a recovering alcoholic and has not played in recent years. HOWEVER, the kid can strike a golf ball.

Picks:

  • Adam Hadwin to Win (+10,000)

  • Jason Day to Win (+1800)

  • Grayson Murray to Win (+50,000)

That’ll Play!
